Happy Father’s Day!

Happy-Fathers-Day

The United States is one of the few countries to celebrate this holiday. Although the origin is not clear, some say it began with a church service in West Virginia in 1908.

Regardless of when the first Father’s Day was, the strongest promoter was Mrs. Bruce Dodd of Spokane, Washington. She wanted a special way to honor her father for raising five siblings and her by himself. Presidents Woodrow Wilson and Calvin Coolidge were instrumental in getting Father’s Day acknowledged, but it was President Lyndon Johnson who signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father’s Day in 1966.

Don’t forget to honor your Dad on his special day. Help him reduce stress, recuperate from a golfing injury or just from working in the yard too long. Give him a gift certificate for massage therapy.

Four Ways To Keep Stress At Bay

stress

As much as we enjoy the emerging flowers and warmer weather of April, there can be a bit of a dark cloud hanging in the spring sky. Often the first few weeks of the month are a rush of receipts and 1040’s as the April 15 Tax deadline looms, and a rush of new schedules as the kids’ sports seasons fire up. Maybe that’s why April is Stress Awareness Month; to remind us to take care of ourselves, and not let stress go unchecked. Read more
